I am really new to the whole PPC world. Can some one help me here.
I am going to run a PPC campaign using a ad thru Neverblue. I just want to do direct linking. Now Neverblue provides me with the URL which I will use as the destination url. But what do I use as a display url? Isn't it suppose to be relevant to the ad. Because the ones that Neverblue and other networks like them are just numbers no words indicating any realtionship to the product. I know I am missing something here. Can someone just fill in the blank for me.
Thanx
Carolin

Hi Carolin,
So you get an affiliate link from neverblue that looks something like this:
http://nbjmp.com/click/?s=00000&c=00000
Enter that link into step 3 of tracking202 with &subid= added at the end so it looks like this:
http://nbjmp.com/click/?s=00000&c=00000&subid=
Now check the link in a separate browser to see where it goes (actual offer domain). So lets say you're direct linking to circuit city. The domain will probably redirect to circuitcity.com
Your display URL is circuitcity.com and your destination URL is the one generated by tracking202 in step 7.
Hope that helps.

Thanx
I knew how to go thru and do step 3 and everything, I just don't get the display url thing. Since I am just direct linking do I just use the url to the product I am promoing.
To use you example of circuit city. DO I just grab their url for display url even though I am not the owner of that domain and then grab my affiliate link run it through step 3 of 202 to get the redirect with subids. So I would put circuitcity.com for display and then my new link as destination url.
I hope this makes sense. It is just the display url I am confused about. Do I just use the companies url that I am promoting?
Thanx
Carolin

Correct, you use their domain as the display URL because thats where you are sending traffic to since its direct linking. It needs to show the display URL of where the offer is being available.

Thank-you, It was just one of those things where you think you are right but you don't want to start a campaign to find out your not.
Thanx again

Don't forget that the only part of your display URL that has to match is the domain portion.
You can have "domain.com/Folder/" as your display url even though you're not sending them to "/folder" as long as the domain name matches.
You can also add in fake sub-domains too to squeeze out every character opportunity to insert a keyword ;-)

I did not know the tip about the subdomain folders. Thanks. I have a question though, wouldn't this process as set out by chopkins causes google to see the destination URL as in use already if another affiliate did the same thing previously for the same offer?

If you do have the domain though, and use fake subs to make more keywords, I recommend actually setting up redirects for those subs, just in case someone types in the fake domain. Don't want people getting a blank screen when they are trying to save you the cost of a click.

Im having questions about this topic too
Im working on a ringtones offer.
And if Im trying to do ringtones for iphones for that specific adgroup.
Is it ok to type a display name Iphone.RingTones.net or eventhough I dont even own a domain name. Or do you think it is wise to buy that domain name and just direct linking it to RingTones.net
Because I was planning to play around with a bunch of different relevant keywords to specific adgroups. with this idea.
Want to know your thoughts

You can't buy iphone.ringtones.net because iphone is a subdomain of ringtones.net. You can only buy root domains aka domain.com and add subdomains yourself such as example.domain.com.

Hello.
I have an ad that keep getting Disallowed by Google AdWords because the Display URL and the Destination URL do not match.
Is there a workaround for this? I am using Direct Link so the Display URL and the Destination URL are never going to match.
I also have an ad pointing to a Landing Page I created and that is no problem because I handle the redirect.
Any advice? Thanks!
