Post subject: Hostgator Prosper202 install is HELL - Am I stupid or something?
|
|
ok, so I created a new sql database and username in my hostgator account
I then downloaded the bluemedialayer fix for hostgator
I extracted the files, edited the config-sample file to include my sql database info
I then upload the files (using binary mode) to the root directory of my hostgator account
I go to my domainname.com but still got nothing.
My patience is wearing thin here....this is freakin so not easy!
I need help...nothing is working

Make sure you create a new database and do a complete install.
You won't be able to use the old database with the BlueLayerMedia fix.
You can also grab the BlueLayerMedia complete Prosper202 package http://blog.bluelayermedia.com/prosper202-complete-install-package-blm-version.html and do a complete install. It works great.
Make sure you use a fresh database and you can follow my install instructions here:
http://www.ad-trackr.com/prosper202-questions-n-answers/i-am-having-trouble-installing-prosper202-where-can-i-get-more-detailed-instructions/
That should get you fixed up.
Thanks,
Derek

I followed Derek's steps, modified the config file in Dreamweaver, ran the FTP, and still got this message again:
Warning: require_once(/home/tomstrac/public_html/202-config/functions.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/tomstrac/public_html/prosper202_1.3.2/index.php on line 7

I am running out of hours for this SIMPLE Install!

Thanks a million Stangracer!
I was having the same trouble with the "simple" install and finally found this post. I just completely removed the database and user and all prosper files then started from scratch with stangracer's version. I was stumped for second about having to manually creat the 202-config.php file but 202-config-sample.php made it simple. Was'nt sure if the Hostgator shared hosting would work with prosper but all's great now.
Thanks.
Mike

THanks! I managed to get HostGator to get the install done, working with 6 different techs, and they now have a protocol to do so.

Can you explain how you did it tomjames?
I keep running into the same error, it says:
"The 'partitioning' feature is disabled; you need MySQL built with '--with-partition' to have it working"
Anyone have any ideas what I need to change?
I followed the exact protocol found at bluelayer and this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0xyyQJuG2E, which makes me think that it's something recent. Thanks!

All I can tell you is that I use a reseller account at Hostgator, and I kept getting different tech guys to help me. The last one got it working, his name was Larry (one of a few named Larry). He said that he kept a log of what he hads done, and that it was now in their files/guides for the tech guys to use. I wrote to the suppoprt desk, and told them how much trouble I had, how the one guy, Larry had helped, and that I hoped that they would be sure to make the solution readily available. Sorry if that does not help much, but that is what I did.

I am having the same issue. I was told that self hoster tracking 202 need to run on a dedicated server or VPS.

Try going here: http://support.hostgator.com/articles/getting-started/general-help/install-prosper202. Worked for me.
