Where is the Prosper202 1.3 release? We need your feedback on it.

Will we keep developing Prosper202?

Because we've been spending so much time developing Tracking202 Pro that we have not had a chance to update the prosper202 framework recently. Many people have asked us if we still improve and support the open-source tracking software. And the answer to that is yes, we will keep developing new releases of the software.

The original Tracking202/Prosper202 software is very different than Tracking202 Pro, so even though Pro does a great job tracking the big 3 search engines, thats about all it currently does, and anything left over is where the original Tracking202/Prosper202 software picks up. So both applications have their own use and many users use both of them, Pro for the big 3, and Prosper202 for everything else (for now). We do not have any plans on discontinuing development and support on Prosper at this time, we will continue to improve both of them!

We need your input on what you want

For the next Prosper202 release, I'd like to ask your input on what you'd like to see in the version 1.3 like we did last time.

We will start developing the new Prosper202 release after Pro launches later this month. We'd then hope to have a release around mid April on the new feature set that has been requested by you. So let me know what you guys would like to see in the next release, and more so oriented towards targeting other traffic sources than the big 3 ppc engines. IE: alot of people do Facebook marketing, Myspace or PPV now, is there any certain tracking aspects you'd like to see which would help make this easier? I can't promise to get everything in, but it'll give us a good gauge on what you guys want so we have some sort of general direction.

Things we will most likely not implement is campaign/adgroup level of tracking into Prosper202 because that functionality is fully supported in Tracking202 Pro, so we will likely change P202 to more of a custom system, where you input your own tracking variables and can track anything

    Hey Wes,

#1 - A better offer rotator is probably THE most important feature it needs. It should have the ability to rotate offers from various networks, with various payouts and tell us which is performing best. SImilar to what PPC-Coach did with his tracking software.

#2 - It would be sort of cool if Prosper saved the links it created so that if you enter the link somewhere and then an aspect of that link changes such as the CPC, you can change it on the fly. I currently use php redirects for each prosper link I put out there but it would be sort of cool if something like that were integrated.

Thanks for all of your hard work. I, as well as tons of other affiliates truly appreciate what you do for us.

A way to update costs on the keyword level would be nice.

  3. Alex on Mar 17, 2009 at 7:43am

Basically, a better offer rotator and a landing page rotator. Otherwise, it's a damn fine software!

  4. Scott on Mar 17, 2009 at 9:24am

    I'll put in my requests:

    1. Landing Page Rotator with a cookie set so clicker only ever sees the same page.

    2. Offer Rotator

    3. Ability to expand & collapse. Can get really cluttered with lots of campaigns

    4. BOTH bidded & actual keywords side by side like in extreme conversions

    5. Having access to the data in more ways.

For Example, in Analyze. Lets say that I'm looking at Referers and it shows somecrappymfa.info. I want to be able to click on that & see the links, keywords, etc.

Or, I'm looking at keywords & I want to see the referrers, etc. Just more ways to see the info right there so I can make decisions faster.

    6. See the links I created in "get links" so I can match up a destination url in adwords & the link I created in 202. In case my ad doesn't exactly match what's is Adwords. We can see the link we created in #3 Aff Campaigns, I would like that for #7.

That's what I can think of for now.

You guy are doing a great job!! Thank You!

  5. Steffen on Mar 17, 2009 at 11:41am

    Hi,

    here are my request:

    1. Build in Landing Page rotator would be great

    2. Rotate offers from different networks so I can see which offer performs best.

    3. Tracking different match types with adwords (exact, phrase and broad)

    4. Import possibility for reports from adwords, so the costs are the same as in adwords.

By the way: Great tool :-)

    1. I would like to see some updates added that make more use of partitions on tables and update the 202_Clicks table to contain partitions past Jan. 2009.

    2. Finish up the code so that it can be run in a folder on a domain and not require it to sit at the root.

    3. A better way for users to contribute code to help with the project.

  7. iComunik on Mar 17, 2009 at 3:33pm

    Hey Wes,

Nice to know the development of P202 still going strong. I have few requests.

    1. Optimize mySQL partitioning for 5.1. (There is an interesting topic at Wickedfire about that.)

    2. An option to create a tracking URL for SEO traffic. Where no cost would be attached.

    3. A more intuitive "HOME" screen. Where you could have a small graphic overview of how all the campaigns are doing overall, cost x profit = revenue

    4. Maybe add a script "Stats202" where you could under Prosper check your affiliate stats for the major CPA networks.

  8. Tim on Mar 17, 2009 at 4:28pm

"we will likely change P202 to more of a custom system, where you input your own tracking variables and can track anything"

That's probably the most important thing p202 needs, it would be *extremely* helpful. Going through visitor log files to find this kind of data is a pain.

More optimized, faster data fetching would be nice as well.

By the way, offer rotation seems to be a big request, but an easy way to do it now is to simply create 2 identical LP's with only different offer links. Then all the data you need is in the Landing Page analyze section. Not a big hassle.

  9. ironlogik on Mar 17, 2009 at 5:52pm

I would love to see a fix for tracking multiple offers on advanced LPs. Right now they all get mashed in a single subID.

    Thanks, and great work guys.

  10. Andy on Mar 17, 2009 at 7:47pm

Having a way to split test different landing pages with different variables would be awesome. Multi-variables at the same time would be amazing so eventually the best landing page combinations rise to the top would be amazing. (or providing a plugin interface so someone else can write a script for this)

  11. Max on Mar 18, 2009 at 1:44am

I'll put in my vote for a plugin that pulls subid stats from directtrack networks. I know this is built-in to tracking202 pro, but maybe, just maybe you could port it into prosper202? Pretty please?

  12. Conv3rsion on Mar 18, 2009 at 1:58am

One thing that would really help me out is a way to track offer page changes when you are direct linking and using a GET parm to change something about the offer page.

So just like how it tracks at the text ad and keyword level, checking at the offer page level when direct linking would be great.

And Wes, you're the fucking man dude. Seriously, thank you.

  13. foong on Mar 18, 2009 at 9:53am

I'll put a vote for actual cost and profit at keyword level (both bidded and actual searched), this is so handy and speeding up things, a manual upload is good enough if auto is too much of work.

Pull in all the variables provided by ysm and adcenter (all the campaign/adgroup/keyword ids), and a flexible sorting/searching option to view the stats, it does not need to be so nicely done like PRO but a manual way is more than enough.

  14. Tom on Mar 18, 2009 at 11:41am

Yep cost data import feature would be huge. For me personally I would love to be able to import maybe a cost csv file from PPV networks and have Prosper match up the data.

  15. Steven on Mar 19, 2009 at 10:51am

Bidded and Actual keyword side-by-side is already a feature in Tracking202 Pro

  16. Conv3rsion on Mar 19, 2009 at 3:21pm

"3. A better way for users to contribute code to help with the project."

If this could be hosted in a git / svn repo with trusted people to check in patches then development could probably go much faster and with less work on your current team Wes.

Also a plugin architecture (a la wordpress) would be wonderful for community development.

  17. cp on Mar 19, 2009 at 10:43pm

    - offer and LP rotators that are configurable on the fly

    - cost and revenue data down to keyword and adgroup level

I know it is available in 202Pro but we don't use that, we use prosper. Can the 202pro features for keyword and adgroup level tracking be ported to prosper?

  18. Tom on Mar 20, 2009 at 1:21pm

Much like our revenue data, a manual way for us to import our cost data would be more than enough for me.

  19. Jardini on Mar 20, 2009 at 2:14pm

    - Able to select multiple landing pages when analyzing the hourly or daily overview, that way I can see the hourly conversion across multiple landing pages I am split testing.

  20. Affiliate Marketing Blog on Mar 20, 2009 at 11:19pm

I would really love an easier setup UI.

    * For instance, when you go to create a DL campaign, it takes forever to build the campaign compared to a few other tracking tools.

    * Easy SSL support is a must! :-)

    * API and manual Adwords importing feature would be cool

As AdHustler said -- a better Rotating script is crucial for many people.

  21. Affiliate Marketing Blog on Mar 20, 2009 at 11:20pm

    ==========

A plugin system would be awesome. Seriously, too many other tracking programs lack this feature, and it would be a SERIOUS advantage. ;-)

  22. $teve on Mar 21, 2009 at 5:19pm

First and foremost, you guys need to require people to donate before they download. Even it's just minimum $1 donation, you guys deserve to be getting paid something for this awesome software.

    1) Faster way to add landing pages and get codes. For instance, maybe there could be a text area where you simply enter your landing page urls as such:

    Text Area

    ----------------------------------------

    http://www.mywebiste.com/mylandingpage1/

    http://www.mywebiste.com/mylandingpage2/

    http://www.mywebiste.com/mylandingpage3/

    ----------------------------------------

Then have prosper202 automatically generate specific landing page codes for each url and be able to export to a spreadsheet to add the codes to each page.

OR possibly, have all the landing page URLS & titles in a spreadsheet, then upload the spreadsheet to Prosper202, just like you create a campaign in adwords, then upload the entire spreadsheet to the adwords editor. That would be sweet!

Either way, manually adding 120 different landing pages one by one is a total time killer. There must be a faster way.

    2) Built in landing page rotator. Enter the two landing pages you want to rotate, select rotate URLs then hit go. It generates a code, then you're set.

    3) View "searched keyword" AND "bidden keyword" instead of having to manually select only one option. These features work well together, but having only ONE limits the potential of any given campaign.

    4) Manually upload an entire Adwords campaign from a spreadsheet, and have prosper202 generate a NEW spreadsheet that automatically inserts every tracking URL for adgroups and keywords. Then we could reupload the spreadsheet into Adwords Editor and have all the tracking links DONE! That would be a nice feature. Again, another super time saver.

Those are what I consider the most important features to go into the next version. Thanks for your help guys, this software is awesome and I hope my feedback gets taken into consideration when you update.

    Thanks.

My MAIN Complaint is the setting of Adtexts for different adgroups and getting the tracking link is too tedious and slow. If I have 200 adgroups, it is impossible to do it in prosper202. I do not like the fact that we have to enter the whole ad to define an adtext then get the tracking link.

    Maybe define

    adtxt1 cpc

    adtxt2 cpc

    adtxt3 cpc

    in a table and

the tracking links are spit out.

    ad txt1 Tracking link1->

    ad txt2 Tracking link2->

    ad txt3 Tracking link3->

And export to an excel file. Very fast to work

with adwords editor. Please include this feature.

Else what fast way for us to define adgroups in

prosper202 and prosper202 can track the different adgroups and adtexts that transparent to us.

    Mike

  24. Steven on Mar 23, 2009 at 3:30pm

@cp - it makes no sense for us to build a feature for Prosper if its already in Pro even if you choose not to use Pro for whatever reason. Doing so would destroy any business model we have and it absolutely does not make sense in that case to do so.

  25. Shaun on Mar 27, 2009 at 9:40am

Is there a way you could add tracking for all click throughs on a given landing page? Right now if you have 2 products on the same lander, you can only view 1 click through even if the visitor clicks through to both products. Even if this could show up only on "all clicks" it would be a useful comparison to network stats.

  26. Daniel on Mar 31, 2009 at 1:16am

I would second Shaun - the ability to track clickthroughs for multiple offers on a landing page down to the keyword level would be invaluable.

  27. sean on Mar 31, 2009 at 1:21pm

ONE universal javascript for all landing pages.

the network, campaign, landing page are specified as script paramaters.

<! -- single javascript for any landing page on any site -- >

    < script type="text/javascript" src="http://prosper.mysite.com/tracking202/static/landing.php">< /script>

<!-- secondary javascript to specify network > campaign > landing page nickname

network and campaign must be pre-defined in prosper202 or nothing happens.

landing page nick does not need to be defined, if it does not exist it will be created. the nick will be the page slug and and the URL is the URL firing the script -- >

    < script type="text/javascript">

    trackPage("neverblue, acaiburn, acai-lp1");

    < /script>

this would massively reduce setup time.

would also allow cool stuff, like appending custom values to lp nicks for split testing.

    < script type="text/javascript">

    trackPage("neverblue, acaiburn, acai-lp<?php echo $lp-variation-number; ?>");

    < /script>

  28. kkibak on Apr 01, 2009 at 1:27pm

One of the most frustrating things to me about prosper (which I love) is that there are always significant "click count" discrepancies between what prosper says and what the ad network says. For me, the difference ranges from 10% to as much as 30% in some cases. I have no idea why this would be happening, but have heard others have the same problem.

To test, I created my own little script that would just record clicks, and my script was consistent with the ad networks -- leading me to believe there's some kind of problem with prosper's click counting mechanism.

    Thanks

  29. B on May 01, 2009 at 6:47pm

    I'd like the ability to:

    - Correct (change) the number of conversions for a particular offer and/or traffic source. Many times things aren't tracked correctly, for instance the subid is dropped by the network but we know where the conversion came from so we could add it manually.

    - Hide old offers in the pulldowns. You can end up with hundreds of old offers over time and when you try to set up new tracking urls you have to sort through them all and sometimes pick the wrong one.

    - Change the $ amount of the clicks going forward from a particular date. Currently the spend stats are never correct because of the tracking urls being permanently tied to one bid. You never know what you're really going to spend at the beginning of a campaign and bids change all the time anyway. This is the major flaw of p202.

  30. Steven on May 02, 2009 at 8:59pm

    @B

    1. You are already able to do this by adding converted subids to correct this yourself.

    2. Will note.

    3. You can update the revenues by uploading the CSV or manually edit the per lead basis in the database.
